Bora

It is a very significant natural phenomenon because it considerably affects the lives of people, organisms and the development of vegetation. The bora is formed as the cold air from the Lika hinterland crashes down the steep slopes of the Velebit mountain range passing through the narrow coastal ravines towards the sea. It is a frequent visitor to the Nin Saltworks. The bora is a strong and cold wind and blows from an area where there is no industry, so it is extremely clean and healthy and, together with the sun, helps with the speed and naturalness with which the salt is produced.

The fact that the Nin Saltworks is located in the heart of five Croatian national parks (Plitvice, Paklenica, Kornati, Sjeverni Velebit and Krka) shows that the area is clean and non-polluted.
