History

For centuries, Nin Salt work gives life. It has nurtured many generations. It has given many plants and animals a home. Love for the salt has transferred from generation to generation.

Nin Saltworks acts as the human body. All the functions are properly distributed and work synergistically,and the tendency is based on naturalness, simplicity and patience. Our purpose is to „bring people closer to nature with taste, touch, view and emotion“.

Nin

Nin, a small town in Zadar County, is located in a unique lagoon on the Croatian Adriatic coast. There is an oasis of sandy beaches in the middle of a relatively shallow Nin Bay protected from the open sea.

Salt

Salt is uniquely timeless – it exists since water and stone exist and will exist long after us. Historically, salt has accompanied human development since time immemorial.

Besides large retail chains, our products are present in souvenir shops, duty free shops and healthy food stores throughout Europe (Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Netherlands, Sweden etc.)

Museum and House of salt

Over 100,000 people visit the Nin Saltworks annually. The entire saltworks is a magical museum with a history spanning over 1500 years. Archaeological findings from the time of the Liburnians (Illyrians), a Roman lock, the Velebit wind, healing mud, over 200 bird species, and ancient tools bear witness to its rich history.
